Edavaka Mission

The Voluntary Evangelists Association is an official organization of the Mar Thoma Church. A unit in a Parish is familiarly known as the Edavaka (Parish) Mission. This organization is an active organization in the Mar Thoma Church Staten Island. They meet once a week normally at the residence of the members on every Friday evening for prayer and meditation. In addition, they undertake charitable activities in India by supporting the Mission fields.

Mission is one of the most vital components of the church. Lay Mission is a vocation ordained by Christ through the Great Commission (Mathew 28: 19-20). Edavaka Mission takes a leadership role to conduct lay missionary meetings and conferences. Among programmes, the mission gives emphasis to the organization of parish prayer meetings, Bible studies, visitations and outreach programmes.

The committee members are elected during their annual meeting and the term of office is one year. The financial year is from 1 January to 31 December.
